Life with us

At Hayes Park nursing & residential home

We recognise that each resident’s needs are as individual as they are. Our personalised approach respects the individuality, preferences and lifestyle of every person in our care. From food, drink and activities, through to cultural and religious needs, we aim to offer choice and variety which respects the needs and desires of every individual.

My wife received extremely good care, with love and dignity for nearly 3yrs until her decease in Dec 20. She was kept healthy and happy. I was given a lot of support, advice and dignity if I asked questions. The home is clean and cheery. Hayes Park Nursing & Residential Home cannot be faulted.

Food and drink

Fresh, delicious and nutritious food, with a variety of choice to suit all tastes and diets

Our chefs provide nutritious meals and a range of menu choices which look and taste good at the same time as meeting the individual dietary and culturally specific needs of all of our residents. The catering team takes pride in knowing and meeting a diverse range of needs, from traditional English meals through to Caribbean delicacies and delicious curries, sourcing the finest halal meats or vegetarian options and omitting onions, garlic and other ingredients to meet religious needs.

As well as meeting dietary preferences, we recognise that people living with dementia can often experience changes in their appetite and eating habits.

Our catering team and care team are trained to spot these changes and will work with residents and their families to tweak the menu to suit changing needs and ensure that everyone gets the nutrition they need to sustain a healthy lifestyle.

We love the hustle and bustle of mealtimes and see them as a wonderful opportunity to get together with friends and enjoy a chat over delicious food. However, with dignity, respect and personal choice at the heart of all we do, there is flexibility in mealtimes for those who wish to eat alone or at a different time.

Our caring approach

Our mission to deliver high-quality care which enhances quality of life for the people we support. We help our residents to lead fulfilling lives, with care that’s personalised to their individual needs and wishes.

For us, “quality care” means ensuring that every individual’s hopes, goals and needs are met.

Activities

A choice of engaging and entertaining activities

Our dedicated activities coordinator is skilled at providing activities which combine social interaction and mental stimulation with the opportunity to promote life skills and support independence. While some residents are content to have a quiet cup of tea and a chat, others love the mental stimulation of board games or sitting looking at old photos with one of the team.

For those looking for a more active approach, we have a range of activities that contribute to both physical and mental wellbeing, from exercise balls to resistance aids, to getting involved in arts and crafts, sharing a sing-song or even doing a bit of dancing!

Our theme nights, cultural events such as Diwali, Vaisakhi, Eid, Christmas and Easter as well as our range of outdoor activities, are also a great way to engage everyone in a social activity which lifts everyone’s spirits! We’re also proud to say that we’re not afraid to take positive risks to improve quality of life.

Our robust risk assessment processes and attention to detail mean we were one of the first care homes to successfully introduce post-lockdown visits for families.

Keeping connected

A care home at the heart of the Leicester community

Based just outside Leicester city centre, the local community is home to schools and nurseries, places of worship and local community groups. We work hard to ensure that there are opportunities for the people we support to integrate with the local community, building links with schools and places of worship and encouraging community groups and local residents to visit and engage with events at Hayes Park.

Families and relationships

an open-door policy

At Hayes Park, we operate an open-door policy, encouraging family members to visit as often as they wish. As well as being free to visit at any time, families are invited to regular review meetings, where we encourage honest and open feedback on everything from care plans to menus and upcoming activities. In addition to encouraging regular visits, we also make full use of technology to promote contact with friends and family, including phone points in bedrooms and the provision of iPads to residents for video calling and web access.

Good management and great nursing care. Very attentive and respectful to the needs of the residents/patients. Good communication and interpersonal fully with families. Very sensible and experienced nursing team. Health care team were very good as well. I would recommend this care home to family and friends.

A diverse community

Meeting spiritual and cultural needs

Based in Leicester, the staff and residents at Hayes Park reflect the multicultural, multifaith community of the surrounding area. This cultural diversity is reflected in life at Hayes Park, from the steps we take to meet the religious and spiritual needs of our residents, to the food we provide, the languages we speak and the games and lifestyle we live.

We have built links with local temples, mosques, churches and other places of worship, allowing us to support the spiritual and religious needs of all of our residents. Our diverse staff team speak a range of languages, including Punjabi, Gujerati, Mirpuri, French, Hindi and Urdu – which can help to ease communication issues for those who speak English as a second language and make people
feel more at home.
