Our people

The team at Broadmead Residential Home

Is committed to delivering care that is the right balance of professionalism and compassion. When recruiting for new members of the team, We’d go so far as to say we are fussy! We understand that recruiting the right people, with the right attitude, can make a huge difference to the lives of the people we care for. To ensure we get it right, we look for people who have a calm, caring and compassionate approach, attention to detail and passion to deliver care with integrity, respect and a warm smile.

Dedicated staff team

Continuity of care

We strive to create a working environment which encourages staff to stay with us. Doing so help us to build relationships with our residents, getting to know them well and ensuring continuity of care. Residents are comforted by seeing familiar faces, while staff get to know residents well enough to deliver unrivalled high-quality care based on the needs, preferences and desires of every resident.

Some very caring staff, some exceptional, that is the most important criteria.
The food is good and the entertainment shown by one member of staff in particular to the residents is amazing. A most kind and caring person.

A homely place, that I can feel confident that my Mother receives basic good
care, and most often well above basic needs.Love the fact that visiting dogs are welcome in the home, as this gives my Mother enormous pleasure to hug her Labrador, and also see other visiting pets.

Training

and staff development

At Broadmead Residential Home, we are extremely proud of our team. We firmly believe that our employees are our greatest asset.

Their caring and professional approach, along with their ability to make our residents smile, is what makes our residential home a warm and friendly place to be.

We are committed to providing the best possible training and ongoing development for all our staff, ensuring that our employees have the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to perform their jobs to the highest standard. Our teams keep up to date with the latest in best practice with a mixture of in house and external training.

We do this via a comprehensive induction, online training and an insistence that staff achieve their Care Certificate. In addition, staff are supported and encouraged to obtain national qualifications such as CQF’s in Care or Health and Social Care.

Over the years, we’ve established a good relationship with the West Berkshire care home support team, a multi-disciplinary team of nurse practitioners, Occupational therapists, Speech and language therapists and physiotherapist. This specialist team provide training and support to our team, upskilling and empowering them to deliver an even greater standard of care where and when it is needed.

Digital care planning

Using digital technology helps to improve quality, efficiency and patient care

Robust and up to date care plans are central to ensuring that the residents at Broadmead Residential Home receive care appropriate to their needs. Our digital care planning system allows us to access and update all care plans on a handheld device or PC, offering increased accountability, improved reporting and far higher efficiency than paper-based records. This increased efficiency frees up time for us to do what we do best, which is to spend quality time with our residents.

Multi-disciplinary care

Supporting older people inevitably means dealing with complex healthcare needs, long-term conditions and end of life care

Supporting older people inevitably means dealing with complex healthcare needs, long-term conditions and end of life care. In addition to the expertise provided by our own teams, we have fostered strong links within the local communities to build an extended team of experts in Woolton Hill, Newbury and the surrounding areas.

By building strong relationships with local GPs, mental health teams, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, podiatrists, dentists, opticians and other healthcare professionals, we’re able to meet a variety of diverse needs and provide a holistic approach to care.

Our caring approach

Our mission to deliver high-quality care which enhances quality of life for the people we support. We help our residents to lead fulfilling lives, with care that’s personalised to their individual needs and wishes.

For us, “quality care” means ensuring that every individual’s hopes, goals and needs are met.
