Welcome back Iris!

31/01/2024

What an absolute privilege and pleasure it was for us to welcome back Iris Pethick, our previous Pet Therapist who used to visit our residents and staff weekly! We miss Iris coming in with her lovely little Yorkshire Terrior, Cindy-Lou, who would happily let our residents stroke her and play with her, so it was lovely having her back for the day after retiring 5 years ago!

Iris also sent us a lovely message after her visit and we are so lucky to have such a lovely and connected local community to be a part of.

“Thank you so much for the wonderful welcome to Bricklehampton yesterday. It was very emotional for me to see you all, thank you.
It was greatly appreciated by myself and Anna to enter the conservatory and see my picture and Cindy-Lou on the wall. It was very moving and I had tears in my eyes. Thank you for keeping it all these years.
We enjoyed our day so much, to me it was like coming home, and I will look forward to coming to see you all again in summer.”

Having pets in the home gives residents so much peace and provides companionship, love, affection and activity. Being with a pet also increases levels of the “feel good” hormone, serotonin, which relieves stress, so we do often welcome staff and family pets to visit our residents. It really makes our day!
