This May Day our residents enjoyed some relaxation, colouring and craft activities.
This is thoroughly enjoyed by our residents as colouring allows them to not only use their creativity and express themselves through art, but also helps them to relax and unwind. Some experts advise that colouring also allows you to “switch off”, similar to meditation, which can be extremely helpful for the elderly who suffer from dementia. It also helps hand-eye coordination and dexterity.
We followed up with discussions about the time of year, as May Day marks the beginning of summer, so we discussed our favourite summer blooms whilst creating pom pom flowers to decorate our home with.
It is lovely to see our residents exploring colours and textures and contribute to making our home look so bright and beautiful!
