Thank you so much Phillip Heyman for coming to Coppermill Care and putting on a beautiful viola concert for our residents. Everyone was so pleased and thoroughly enjoyed the show!
It was such a treat to have you in and experience the viola! Violas are larger and heavier than violins, have a lower and more mellow sound and the music is read on a different clef. It’s also less common to be able to find viola players versus violin players, so we were so excited when we had the opportunity to invite Phillip into the home to play for our residents.
Music can help the elderly and those with dementia in many ways including improving mood, communication and memory as it evokes emotions and fond memories of the past. Music is also beneficial as it helps to reduce anxiety and depression and improve quality of life, as well as encourage social interaction.
If you have are a musician or have a talent you think will help our residents, please do call us! We would love to hear from you!
