What a lovely day out John had this morning! He thoroughly enjoyed his trip to Evesham earlier today, enjoying a spot of shopping, relaxing by the river and enjoying a lovely cup of tea and cake!
It was an absolute pleasure to accompany John on his morning out and we know it made his day! You can see it from the smiles in his photos!
Day trips are so important for the elderly and have several benefits to their health.
- Spending time outdoors can help the body absorb Vitamin D which helps contribute to improved mood and can reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.
- Moving around and exercising can release endorphins, which can make people feel good and reduce their stress and anxiety levels.
- Being outdoors and spending time in nature can lower stress levels, help to relax you and improved blood pressure.
- Day trips allow the elderly to get out and about and socialise with the community. This has a feel good factor to it and helps to improve mood. It can also trigger fond memories of the past when residents would socialise with their loved ones and community members.
