Our residents really enjoyed this Monday morning motivational exercise class! We had a lot of fun doing an upper body workout and ensuring we have a good laugh along the way too!
From a range of movements and exercises, including:
- Squeezing soft balls to improve hand and knuckle movements
- Punching boxing pads using our strength and releasing any stress or frustrations
- Stretching our upper body and improving our posture and movements
Our residents really did feel great after this workout!
The positive impact of exercise for the elderly or those suffering from dementia is so incredible as it promotes their mobility, strength and balance as well as their mental well being and general mood.
- Exercise helps reduce depression in the elderly as it releases endorphins and encephalins that influence memory retention and serotonin which can help elevate mood and enhance memory and learning.
- Regular physical activity improves cardiovascular health, enhances bone density and mitigates against chronic conditions such as arthritis and diabetes.
- Helps to maintain balance which can reduce the risk of falls or fractures amongst the elderly.
If you have any suggestions for good workouts for our residents, we would love to hear from you! Get in touch!
