New Day were at the IPC Expo24!

15/10/2024

We are so proud of our lovely Ritu who was representing New Day Nursing Home at the Infection Prevention Control Exposition (IPC Expo) this year! The IPC Expo is a conference organised by Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust for healthcare professionals and is dedicated to advancing infection prevention and control in the healthcare sector.

As our IPC Champion for New Day, Ritu was invited by an Auditor to take part in the expo to raise awareness about the “Gloveless” Campaign. Ritu was busy preparing for the expo, she gathered literature for expo visitors, collated information about the use of gloves at New Day Nursing Home, took photos and videos of our Nurses and Care staff demonstrating activities and interactions with and without the use of gloves. All of this was presented beautifully at the expo and we are so proud of Ritu for explaining and raising awareness about the unnecessary use of gloves in interactions that don’t require them, and how they can be a hindrance to the human touch that is so important when caring for the elderly and vulnerable.

We received excellent feedback from expo visitors as well as the organisers of the Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Ritu has also been asked to support the organisers in visiting other Care Homes in Birmingham to carry out similar demonstrations and to continue to raise awareness on this topic.

Well done Ritu and all supporting staff at New Day who made this possible!
