As part of Care Home Open Week, we were proud to host a wonderful classical music afternoon in our garden and what a special day it was!
Organised by Championing Social Care, Care Home Open Week (June 16–22) celebrates the incredible work of care homes and helps build strong connections with the wider community. This year’s theme, The Power of Music, inspired homes across the country to open their doors through joyful, musical events.
At Broadmead Resthome, we were thrilled to welcome guitarist Neale Turner, who performed a selection of light classical pieces that created a serene and uplifting atmosphere. With the sun shining, residents, families, and friends gathered in our garden to enjoy not only the music, but also a lovely tea party with delicious treats and refreshments.
Why It Mattered:
-
Emotional & Cognitive Enrichment: The live music stirred memories, eased anxiety, and sparked moments of joy, especially beneficial for those living with dementia.
-
Community Spirit: Sharing this special event with loved ones and guests helped strengthen our ties with the local community.
-
Simple Joys: Fresh air, good music, tea, and laughter! It was an afternoon filled with the things that truly matter.
Thank you to Neale Turner for the beautiful performance, and to everyone who joined us. Events like this remind us just how powerful music, community, and togetherness can be.
