This year has been special with Diwali and Halloween coinciding! On Thursday 31 October 31, both Diwali and Halloween fell on the same day. This was the first time in the 21st century that the two festivals coincided, so what better way to celebrate than to have a combined party with all our residents at New Day Nursing Home!
What is Diwali?
Diwali is a Hindu festival of lights that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. It is typically celebrated by lighting candles and lamps, praying and enjoying festive Indian food and treats, whilst spending time with loved ones!
What is Halloween?
Halloween is a festival celebrated in the West, that celebrates the spooky and unknown! It involves carving pumpkins, going trick-or-treating whilst dressed up in spooky costumes, watching horror films and enjoying festive treats and pumpkin inspired foods!
We embraced it all at New Day, setting up a feast for residents to enjoy and indulge in! From Indian sweets and treats to pizzas and pies, we served it all!
Henna tattoos, dressing up, decorations and having family and friends visit us, all added to the fun and festivities and the residents were thoroughly entertained throughout the day! Thanks to all those who visited us to join in!
